MiniFest 2011 and Church Fete - brought to you by the Sambourne Village Association
A
wet start to the minifest this year saw 60 people turn out for
rounders, BBQ, Pimm’s and beer at the recreation ground on Friday
evening.
4 teams competed and the winning team was Laurance Evans’ “The
DB’s” comprising Paul May, Sam Workman, Chris Cooke, Leila Spencer,
Sian Finneran, Dom Yearby,
The 1st second and third winners of the
space hopper race were Callum Finneran, Alice Kerridge and George Cooke.
Thanks to Mark Arnold who provided the medals and to everyone who
braved the rain and showed what might be called the “Sambourne spirit”.
Saturday’s Church fete went well (the scones were highly complemented and the old photo’s on the W.I stand were marvellous).
Competition winners for
best pimped pet were junior: Bethany Snape
(with spaced chicken sparkle ballerina) and senior: Laurance Evans
(pimped pork) and for
best space ship were junior: George Cooke and
senior: Anne Price.
Nice to see some new stalls on the field this year; I know the kids appreciated the bicycles.
The Bad boys were great again on Saturday night and the pig roast by

Fancy dress winners were
Adult: Candice Laband as The Tardis and
Junior: Alice Kerridge as Luke Skywalker. Well done everyone else for
making the effort.
The Yuri Gagarin Crazy Golf Challenge on Sunday saw a good turn out
with the adult winner: Ben Workman, Junior: Alicia Budgen and a runaway
success for Pete Laband with his Neptune winning what is becoming quite
a competitive “Best Hole” competition. Congratulations anyway and
thanks to the other hole hosts.
